Momo. by Michael Ende6/27/2023 ![]() ![]() Every time you raise your head, you see the street is not becoming shorter. It seems so terribly long you think you could never finish it. One day he explained to Momo: “Things are like this: sometimes you have in front of you a very long street. Every now and then, he stopped for a moment and looked thoughtfully. ![]() When he swept the streets, he did it slowly but constantly with every step an inhalation and with every inhalation a sweep. In the following extract of the book there is what I consider a great lesson about how to face tasks that need a great, continuous and constant effort.īeppo liked his job and was good at it. Let’s continue with Momo’s best friend, Beppo Street-cleaner, whose profession is the same as his surname. Beppo Sweeper and his positive mindset to face the work. And listening in an active way, even less. You’ll think… listening isn’t a gift, we all do it. Her gift is that she knows how to listen and when she does, she can get the person she is listening to, to bring out the best in them and become a better version of themselves. ![]() It’s not that she can sing, dance, lead or that she has an extraordinary intelligence (maybe she has). A book in which you can learn a lot as an adult and those lessons can be applied to any aspect of life, even work. I have read again a book from my childhood, “Momo” de Michael Ende. ![]()

Andy weir hail mary6/27/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() One key difference is that the stakes are higher in Project Hail Mary: rather than one life being at risk, Weir’s antagonist in this book threatens the survival of the entire human race, and other galactic civilizations beside our own. Project Hail Maryuses a broader canvas as the backdrop for an interstellar race against time, but it still cleaves to Weir’s favorite themes: competence in the face of adversity, and a willingness to fight for survival. ![]() His sophomore effort, Artemis, was a change of pace, a science fiction thriller set inside a city on the Moon. After the runaway success of The Martian, culminating in a big budget Hollywood blockbuster helmed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon, expectations have run high for each new Andy Weir book. ![]() Roommate penelope ward6/27/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Except, her grandmother left the house to her and Justin, the boy she used to love who now hates her. ![]() ( )Īfter catching her boyfriend of two years cheating and losing her grandmother, Amelia does the only thing she think she can do, run away to her grandmother's beach house and take a breather. Sorry my thoughts are a bit disjointed, I'm tired tonight! I don't know how to tag this book- second chance ,friends to lovers, hate to love. The premise was, in this case, utterly preposterous. One issue I had was that I'm not sure Amelia should've shouldered so much blame for their falling out. Ward's obsession with the men &breast milk I also want to know what the hell is with Ms. ![]() Justin's honesty, without being 100% forthcoming was a very nice balance. IT didn't stop me from reading it obsessively. Ultimately, the development and reconnection in these two won me over, although I felt the book was at times disorganized or like some development was unnecessary. While he was a bitter jerk for the first half of the book, the flashbacks established him as a rock-steady friend. That was especially difficult to get over in Justin at times, but good lord, I loved him. The premise of her books aren't often plausible, but the heroes tend to be flawed (which I like). This is an author who elicits strong emotions in me based on her characters, plots, and the like. ![]() Trent shelton straight up6/26/2023 ![]() And “Don’t Let Them Do This to You” just last night gave me what I needed to stand and reinforced what my dad and aunt put in me before they departed this earth (not what they left for me as you mentioned on Ed’s show). “This is Why People Hurt You” gave me divine clarity to be objective and wise as I move forward. Your episode, “Stop Letting them Play You” dried my tears and helped me stand strong again. An hour later, I heard you on Ed Mylett’s podcast and quickly followed yours in great expectation. I called out to my aunt last week in desperation and told her I needed to hear from her. Your messages bless me and have given me the direct, straightforward advice and emotional support I’ve needed to rise up and triumph over this behemoth situation in front of me. In You & a Bike & a Road, Ignatz Award-winning artist Eleanor Davis takes up the popular form of the women’s travel memoir, reshaping its contours and contents to demonstrate its profound value for readers today. ![]() Name of the wind third book6/26/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() One day, he is visited by a man that calls himself the Chronicler and wants more than anything to hear and record Kvothe’s life story. He has red hair, a smart and witty pupil named Bast, and a whole lot of tales to tell. This innkeeper goes by many names but will be mainly referred to as Kvothe. It guides the reader to focus on things that are absent, picturing a place without music, without energy, without crowds, where the few people drinking are anxious, avoiding certain subjects, while the innkeeper, with his methodical behavior, is taciturn and quiet, displaying the silence “ of a man who is waiting to die.” The prologue’s main purpose is not to introduce a character or setting but to build a somber mood: it goes on to describe the silence that permeates a certain inn, analyzing its layers to expose the sadness at its core. ![]() It’s mostly narrated by an unreliable man with an ego the size of an overgrown draccus, and whose melancholy imbues the story with an important dose of pathos: the tone makes it clear that, despite all his wondrous adventures and wonderful achievements, he’s not spinning a happy tale. The Name of the Wind is a brilliant fantasy novel that is as deeply concerned with social inequality as it is in love with song and music. ![]() Drina ballerina book series6/26/2023 ![]() The children of the England family were upset when learning that their summer holiday was to be spent, not at the usual seaside hotel, but in the heart of the country. ![]() How Voirrey learns the truth and how Andreas becomes reconciled to Barrule House form the exciting and entertaining plot of The School on North Barrule. Recent Release Book Discussion Thread: The Last Hours: Chain of Iron Welcome ![]() Freedom to Kill by Paul Lindsay6/25/2023 ![]() ![]() But maybe after Lohan narrowly avoided felony charges and Hilton wound up doing jail time in 2007, we realized, as a society, that paying attention to this mayhem was just pouring metaphorical gasoline on the fire. Partly, that's probably because the public got worn out from hearing about the same celebrities getting in trouble all the time. While the Kardashian brand flourished, the media obsession with Hilton, Richie, and Lohan had pretty much run its course by 2010. This bunch included Lohan, hotel chain heiress Paris Hilton, Lionel Richie's daughter and eventual TV personality Nicole Richie, and, perhaps most notably, Kim Kardashian, who swung her brief phase of arguably unearned notoriety into a media and fashion empire that carries on to this day. It also happens to be the case that during the mid-'00s, celeb-centric media developed a fixation on famous young women who were enthusiastic participants in recreational nightlife activities. ![]() Partially, this is because Lohan lives in Dubai now, which makes her a lot less accessible to the American press. ![]() |
